  At some point, when are the dubs going to say: "Wait a minute...something's not right here."? It seems like every change/new policy that the org pushes onto the flock, it is generally received in a positive light. How much is the org going to get away with before it is adversely affected? Goodness!

  Does it say anything in the bible about being a “spiritual head” or the head being responsible for everyone’s “spiritual growth”?

  my wife is really getting on my case about not being spiritual and leading the family spiritually.

  at this point, i really dont go to meetings anymore nor do i have the desire to go.

  i guess its not enough that i work 50 hours a week and pay the majority of the household bills with no complaints.

  She wants me to be a "spiritual example" to her and our son. Meaning: go out in field service, comment, study and go to meetings. Forget the fact that I am a hard worker that doesn't spend much money on himself and who doesn't cheat on his wife. It's never enough.

  My wife is really getting on my case about not being spiritual and leading the family spiritually. At this point, I really don’t go to meetings anymore nor do I have the desire to go. I guess it’s not enough that I work 50 hours a week and pay the majority of the household bills with no complaints. I do not have a problem with taking care of my family in that sense. I just want to show her a scripture or two in the bible that blows this “spiritual head” and “spiritual growth” nonsense out of the water.

  It’s funny, I thought I knew the bible, but when I took a step back from the org, I realized that I know nothing.

  Any ideas?

  A difficult yet necessary decision

  the past five weeks have been perhaps the most painful in my life as a witness.. some months ago a young man (i'd say in his late thirties or early forties) began attending meetings at my kingdom hall.

  he had just moved to my area from another state.

  he had disassociated himself from his home congregation many years back, when he was 20 years old and going through many of the typical trials and temptations most young men experience.. two of the elders met with him initially, and they later shared the details with the body of elders.

  That disassociated young man is better off. Hopefully in the near future, he will realize that the elders did him a favor by not letting him back.

  That is a good point about the literature. My only counterpoint to that would be that they haven't charged for literature since the early 1990's like you mentioned. If that was the main reason for the recent money grab, then shouldn't it have happened way before 2008?

  Let me start off by saying that the Org has always been trying to get money. But is it a coincidence that they have been so in-your-face about it since 2008? In 2008, most of the world experienced an economic drop-off that it has not witnessed since the 1930’s and is still struggling to recover from.

  Since then, there have been so many changes with the Org. Many of which were implemented after 2008 and I think that they can all be tied back to money. I don’t believe that this was a coincidence. I think that that the Org has lost a lot of money with bad investments in hedge funds and are now scrambling to make it up. Add to that the numerous abuse lawsuits that the Org continues to deal with and it is not that far of a stretch to think that the Org sustained massive losses during the Economic Collapse of 2008.

  I guess the biggest question would be is: If the Economic Collapse of 2008 did not happen, would all of these changes have occurred?

  It's funny. I predicted to a elder 5 or 6 years ago that we would have video streams from Bethel. He looked at me like I had three heads! He probably "mis-remembers" our conversation now.

  if you had to pinpoint the time or experience that finally made you open your eyes, what would it be?.

  i think for me it was the time i saw my dad shun his brother who he had not seen in decades just because he was a da'ed jw.

  i thought to my self "no way jesus would do that.
